There’s a number of reasons why a Jewish person should believe in Yeshua (Jesus)! All of them can be found in the Tanakh.

G-d spoke to Moses about Messiah in D’varim (Deuteronomy) 18:18-19 : “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kinsmen.  I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I order him.  Whoever doesn’t listen to my words, which he will speak in my name, will have to account for himself to me.”

Although many accuse Yeshua of merely aspiring to be Messiah, the prophecy of Mikkah (Micah) 5:2 was fulfulled by Yeshua’s birth: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”  How could Yeshua arrange for this to happen?  It is simply not possible.

King David prophesied about Yeshua: “I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, ‘You are my Son; today I have become your Father.’” (Tehillim (Psalms) 2:7)

G-d also told King David of the suffering that Yeshua was to endure:  “I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.  My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me.  My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death…they have pierced my hands and my feet…people stare and gloat over me.  They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.” (Tehillim (Psalms) 22: 14-15, 16b, 17b-18)

Yesha’yahu (Isaiah) also prophesied of how Messiah would be treated in his lifetime: “Who believes our report?  To whom is the arm of Adonai revealed?  For before him he grew up like a young plant, like a root out of dry ground.   He was not well formed or especially handsome; we saw him, but his appearance did not attract us.  People despised and avoided him, a man of pains, well acquainted with illness.  Like someone from whom people turn their faces, he was despised; we did not value him.   In fact, it was our diseases he bore, our pains from which he suffered; yet we regarded him as punished, stricken and afflicted by G-d.  But he was wounded because of our crimes, crushed because of our sins; the disciplining that makes us whole fell on him, and by his bruises we are healed.  We all, like sheep, went astray; we turned, each one, to his own way; yet Adonai laid on him the guilt of all of us. (Yesha’yahu 53:1-6)

All of these prophecies, and many more, were fulfilled by Yeshua!  He proclaimed “I AM the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through me.  Because you have known me, you will also know my Father…” (Yochanan (John) 14:5-7).  Get to know Yeshua as Messiah, believe in Him, and you will find eternal life and peace.
